Susan Morrow and her brother, a pudgy Robert Redford, hire Bart Maverick (Jack Kelly) to protect their herd on a drive to Abilene. Along the way, they accept a cash payment for the herd from a con man and his daughter.  The cash turns out to be counterfeit and the daughter turns out to be the con man's wife.
