Surviving Tough Times!
Confessions of an aging optimist
by K.J. Wilburn - Proprietor of WantedCowgirls.com
I'm sure you've heard the expression, "If it weren't for
bad luck, I'd have no luck at all!"  That seems to best
describe my situation of late.  I owe the followers and
subscribers of this site an apology and a long overdue
explanation about our current situation - so here goes.
Earlier this year I made the mistake of putting all my eggs in one basket
when I announced the "Arizona Project".  It was to be a collaboration
involving me, 4 members of an Arizona cowgirl parade group, 2 mounted
cowgirl shooters from California, an investor from New York that I had
previously worked with, and folks who purchased $200 associate producer
packages thru this website.   Much time was spent in putting this all
together and developing web pages to promote the project and pages
showcasing each of the cowgirls.  Shooting was scheduled for late June
    and early July.

Things seemed to be going well until the end of May as I was preparing
to load up all my gear to attend the Memphis Film Festival.  I received
a call from the "den mother" of the Arizona group informing me that, upon
further reflection, they had decided that an association with our "bad girl"
website would not be in keeping with the wholesome image that they
wished to project.  She also demanded that I "immediately" take down
all pictures, pages and references to the group.  I removed the material
without explanation because I was due at the film festival and was
committed to a full schedule of documenting all the events on video.

When the festival ended, I was able to contact both cowgirl mounted
shooters from California as well as the New York investor.  They all
wanted to continue, so we decided to reschedule  to a later date and
replace the Arizona cowgirls with more California cowgirls and move the
project to that state.  I decided to delay the official  announcement until
more cowgirls and an exact location could be lined up.  Another cowgirl
was added into the mix and my New York guy planned to check out a
suggested location during a business trip to California - then...nothing!
Over a month went by with no contact from my co-producer.  My
e-mails and phone calls went unanswered.  I was certainly worried.
How could I explain what was happening, when I did not know myself?

Finally, my friend called to explain that he had been stricken with
a serious illness and had been in the hospital for over a month.  He
still hopes to continue the project, but will need some time to regain
his financial footing.  In the mean time, I could not afford to turn
down a few free lance video jobs that came my way - the rent must
be paid, and I have grown very fond of eating on a regular basis.

Well, that's pretty much the whole story.  I was forced by events
to place things on hold for a time, but now I'm back and
devoting full time once again to the website.   Over 8 hours
and 50 minutes have been added to the Video Subscription
pages since September 30, 2008 - that brings the total amount
of cowgirl subscription video to over 33 hours.  New titles have
also been added to our Backroom Bargains DVD page.

    Note to Associate Producers:
I promise that all will be set right, eventually.  At the very least,
your subscriptions will be extended, and you will receive the
promised video material when we can get it done.  You will also
have the option of accepting alternate material from our store or
Backroom Bargains Page.  Please contact me by e-mail at this
address kjw@wantedcowgirls.com with any requests, questions or
    concerns.

    What Next?
We hope to finish "Sidewinders" (the last installment of our "Tall
Tales" series) and add it to our subscription pages soon.  Then we
would hope to put out the complete "Tall Tales" collection on DVD.

The good news regarding the California Project is that California cowgirls,
Kimberly & Nikki, will now be joined by Julie.   As we search for more
Cowgirls, please check out the western settlement that we are
considering as our new location.  Once again, the "Arizona Project"
has morphed into the "California Project".  It has been delayed,
but we still hope to follow thru as soon as we can get it all together.
