It's Elizabeth Montgomery as the notorious female outlaw Belle Starr in this made for TV movie, and it is superior to the 1941 movie version. There is however, still a lot of room for improvement. For some reason, Montgomery wears a poncho thru much of this film. And Belle's death scene is a disappointment - instead of being shot from her horse as it actually happened, she is taken down while strolling across the yard. There is enough western bad girl gunslinger action to keep the thing interesting, but it pails in comparison to The Belle Starr Story from 1968 witch featured Elsa Martinelli in a spaghetti western take on the exploits of the notorious Bandit Queen. Marie Windsor's 1954 version of Belle from the TV series Stories of the Century, is still the overall best. KJW
